Arlo Parks

Arlo Parks, born Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho, is a British singer-songwriter and poet recognized for her contributions to indie pop, R&B, folk, and bedroom pop. Parks' music is characterized by descriptive lyrics that explore young adult emotional experiences and mental health awareness, blending elements of bedroom pop and indie soul. She began her career by uploading demos to BBC Music Introducing, which led to her solo debut with the song "Cola." Parks later released the EP "Super Sad Generation" through Transgressive Records.

Parks' single "Black Dog" received significant airplay on BBC Radio 1, amplifying its message about mental health. She has been honored with the AIM Independent Music Award for One to Watch, was longlisted for the BBC Sound Of... and named BBC Introducing Artist of the Year. Her debut album, the Grammy-nominated "Collapsed in Sunbeams," features vignettes about adolescence and achieved high placements on the UK's Official Albums Chart and Independent Albums Chart.

Parks' work has been recognized with the Mercury Prize, the BRIT Award for Breakthrough Artist, and the Deezer Breakthrough Music Artist award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. She also received Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best New Artist.

After a period of touring and relocation to Los Angeles, Parks returned to London to focus on her second album, "My Soft Machine," which features Phoebe Bridgers on the song "Pegasus." This album also earned two Grammy nominations. Parks' book, "The Magic Border," includes song lyrics, poems, and photos. She has performed at major music festivals such as Glastonbury and Coachella, opened for Billie Eilish and Harry Styles, and headlined a global tour in support of "My Soft Machine."

Parks contributed as a songwriter to Beyoncé's Grammy-winning album "Cowboy Carter" on the song "YA YA." Drawing from influences such as Burial and LCD Soundsystem, Parks incorporated electronic elements and DJing into her third album, "Ambiguous Desire." The album features 12 tracks that continue her tradition of personal storytelling and musical evolution within the contemporary music landscape.
