Ari Berman is a leading political journalist and author, widely recognized for his deep reporting on voting rights, political power, and the state of American democracy. He is the national voting rights correspondent for Mother Jones and a reporting fellow at the Type Media Center.
Berman is the author of several critically acclaimed books, including Minority Rule: The Right-Wing Attack on the Will of the People—and the Fight to Resist It and Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His earlier book, Herding Donkeys, examined how the Democratic Party rebuilt itself after early 2000s losses.
His work has appeared in top publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and The Guardian. He is also a frequent guest on national news outlets, including MSNBC, NPR, and C-SPAN. Berman’s investigative reporting has earned him numerous honors, including the Sidney Hillman Foundation Prize for Magazine Journalism and the Izzy Award for excellence in independent media.
Berman holds a degree in journalism and political science from Northwestern University and is based in New Paltz, New York.
