Anuradha Lala-Trindade

Dr. Anuradha Lala-Trindade is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist based in New York City, practicing at Mount Sinai Health System. Lala-Trindade is an associate professor of medicine at the Zena & Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and in the Department of Population Health Science and Statistics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and anthropology from Johns Hopkins University, her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and completed her cardiovascular disease fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center. She pursued advanced training in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and transplant at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Lala-Trindade's clinical expertise encompasses the full spectrum of heart function care, including prevention, advanced therapies, cardiometabolic health, genetic and valvular cardiomyopathies, and the management of patients requiring mechanical circulatory support devices and heart transplantation. She has particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of cardiometabolic health in women during mid-life, addressing unique cardiovascular risks during this period of physiological change. Her approach to medicine emphasizes whole-person care, integrating emotional, spiritual, and physical needs in shared decision-making.

In addition to her clinical work, Lala-Trindade serves as director of heart failure research, holds a data coordinating center leadership role for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, and is program director for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cardiac Failure. Her scholarly work includes more than 231 publications cited over 9,000 times, covering topics such as mechanical circulatory support, cardiovascular health equity, and women's heart disease.

Lala-Trindade has received recognition for her contributions to cardiology, including being named the American Heart Association Young Professionals Society Honoree and receiving the Proctor H. Harvey Teaching Award from the American College of Cardiology for her work in medical education. She has also been named a New York Super Doctor in multiple consecutive years. Her work at the intersection of clinical care and spirituality informs her public speaking and her role as a voice in the heart failure community. Lala-Trindade serves on committees for the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and Heart Failure Society of America, focusing on advanced heart disease.
