Antonia Hylton

Antonia Hylton is a Peabody, Murrow, and two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist whose reporting focuses on politics, civil rights, and immigration. She serves as an anchor and correspondent for MS NOW and is the author of the New York Times bestselling book, "Madness." Hylton graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, where she received recognition for her writing and investigative research on race, mass incarceration, and the history of psychiatry. This academic background supports her career in investigative journalism.

Hylton worked as a correspondent and producer for Vice Media and HBO's nightly news and documentary program, "Vice News Tonight." She began her career at Mic.com as a producer and writer for news shows including "Flip the Script" and "Future Present," and co-developed the docuseries "The Movement with Darnell Moore," which explored grassroots organizing across the United States. After joining NBC News as a national correspondent, Hylton established herself in broadcast journalism.

Hylton co-hosted the podcast "Southlake" with Mike Hixenbaugh, which examined a Texas city and its local school board election as a case study in national political strategy. The podcast reached the top of the charts and received recognition from multiple media outlets. Hylton's book, "Madness: Race and Insanity in a Jim Crow Asylum," became a New York Times bestseller. The book explores the ninety-three-year history of Crownsville Hospital, one of the last segregated asylums in Maryland, blending patient and employee stories with investigative research and archival documents. The book was recognized as a best nonfiction title by Kirkus Reviews, ELLE Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and Amazon.

Hylton has received multiple honors, including two Gracie Awards, a NAMIC Vision Award, and two Front Page Awards for special reporting and breaking news. She serves as a judge for the American Mosaic Journalism Prize. Hylton has also spoken publicly about her experience with a rare form of colon cancer and advocates for preventative care and screenings. Her work addresses significant social issues and personal health advocacy, contributing to ongoing conversations in journalism and public health.
