Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards is a professional basketball player who initiated his sports journey at Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta. His potential was recognized early as he was named a McDonald's All-American in 2019. Edwards then went on to play college basketball for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, where he marked his place as the SEC Rookie of the Year in 2020 and secured a position in the Second-team All-SEC. His college career was highlighted by his impressive debut for the Bulldogs in November 2019, scoring 24 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and a season-high 37 points in a game against Michigan State.

Edwards' performance led him to declare for the 2020 NBA draft after his freshman year. He was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Edwards made a significant impact in his rookie season, scoring a career-high 42 points in a game against the Phoenix Suns and finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting. He was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. His performance continued to excel, setting records and achieving career highs in the following seasons, including being the first player in NBA history to record a stat line of at least 40 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and five three-pointers in a single game.

Beyond his individual performance, Edwards has contributed significantly to his team's success. He played a crucial role in the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022 NBA playoffs, scoring 36 points and six assists. His efforts were recognized as he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career in the 2022-23 season and the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week in November 2023. Edwards also represented the United States national team in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Edwards is a member of the 2024 Paris Olympic team. In addition to his basketball career, Edwards made his acting debut in the 2022 sports drama film Hustle, earning acclaim for his performance.
