Anne Rathbone Bradley

Dr. Anne Rathbone Bradley is an economist whose career spans academia, public policy, and national security. Bradley serves as the George and Sally Mayer Fellow for Economic Education and vice president of academic affairs at The Fund for American Studies, where she works to enhance the impact and reach of economic education programs through courses, seminars, videos, and social media. She delivers lectures nationwide and oversees curriculum development and evaluation for economics courses. Bradley earned her doctorate in economics from George Mason University, where she was a James M. Buchanan Scholar.

Bradley's academic involvement includes positions at The Institute for World Politics and Grove City College, and previous teaching roles at Georgetown University and Charles University in Prague. She served as associate director for the Program in Economics, Politics, and the Law at the James M. Buchanan Center at George Mason University. Bradley is an Acton Affiliate scholar, a visiting scholar at the Bernard Center for Women, Politics & Public Policy, and a lecturer for the Institute for Humane Studies and the Foundation for Economic Education.

Before focusing on economic education, Bradley worked at the intersection of economics and national security. Her research addresses income inequality, economic freedom, and the political economy of terrorism, with emphasis on the industrial organization of al-Qaeda. Based on her academic research, she worked as an economic analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency's Office of Terrorism Analysis. Her research has been published in scholarly journals and edited volumes, and she has authored a book analyzing the political economy of al-Qaeda post-9/11.

Bradley is also an author and editor whose writing explores economics, ethics, and faith. She is the co-editor and author of "Counting the Cost: Christian Perspectives on Capitalism," "For the Least of These: A Biblical Answer to Poverty," and "Be Fruitful and Multiply: Why Economics is Necessary for Making God-Pleasing Decisions." Through her work at the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics, she has developed and commissioned research on biblical theology and economic freedom. Bradley serves on the board of the Association of Private Enterprise Education, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise at Young America's Foundation, and Praxis Circle. Her work connects economic analysis with questions of morality, freedom, and human flourishing for audiences in academia, policy, and the public sphere.
