Anirudh Joshi

Anirudh Joshi is a biomedical engineer, computer scientist, and entrepreneur specializing in the application of artificial intelligence to cancer care. He is the co-founder and CEO of Valar Labs, which operates at the intersection of AI and oncology, focusing on the use of pathology as a modality in cancer care.

Trained at the intersection of medical AI at Stanford University and Georgia Institute of Technology, Joshi has developed medical technology across cardiology, neurology, and oncology, as well as production AI systems used by millions of users. He earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in computer science from Stanford University.

Before Valar Labs, Joshi worked at Microsoft as an applied scientist in deep learning, training and deploying sequence-to-sequence models in Microsoft Word to power the Rewrite Suggestions feature. He later served as a deep learning researcher at PathAI and Curai, where he developed AI to scale telemedicine and advanced abstractive dialogue summarization with deep learning. As a graduate research assistant at Stanford University, Joshi applied artificial intelligence to address healthcare challenges. During this period, the founders of what would become Valar Labs collaborated with Professor Andrew Ng in Stanford's AI lab to leverage medical imaging data for clinically impactful tasks.

Valar Labs provides patient-specific evidence to help physicians and families make informed decisions about therapy selection, generating insights from tumor specimen pathology slides using AI algorithms to assess spatial features and designing transparent AI systems based on underlying biology. Joshi's combination of technical expertise, research experience, and entrepreneurship positions him as a leading voice in AI-driven medicine and the transformation of cancer care.
