Anirudh A Damani

Anirudh A. Damani is the managing partner of Artha Venture Fund and director at Artha India Ventures, the Damani family’s investment platform. A second-generation investor and fourth-generation entrepreneur, Damani has played a defining role in shaping India’s early-stage venture ecosystem, particularly by pioneering the micro-VC model in the country.

Under his leadership, Artha has evolved into a multi-stage investment platform managing over ₹2,300 crore in assets across venture funds, growth vehicles and proprietary capital. This growth has been built as a compounding journey, with each fund strengthening Artha’s discipline in underwriting, capital allocation and long-term partnership with founders.

Artha Venture Fund I, the firm’s maiden ₹225 crore fund, was established at a time when early-stage institutional capital in India was still nascent. The fund has emerged as one of the top-performing early-stage funds globally, delivering more than five times TVPI and more than 50% internal rate of return, with real distributions to limited partners, reflecting Artha’s focus on realized outcomes, not just paper returns.

Building on that foundation, Damani launched Artha Venture Fund II, targeting a ₹500 crore corpus with a ₹250 crore first close as the firm’s core early-stage investment vehicle. The fund follows Artha’s proprietary "1–2–4" model, deploying ₹4 to ₹5 crore at entry while reserving significant capital for follow-on rounds, allowing Artha to scale its exposure to ₹25–30 crore per company and build meaningful ownership in breakout businesses.

In parallel, Artha has built complementary platforms to support companies across their lifecycle. The Artha Select Fund, which closed at ₹492 crore, focuses on doubling down on the top-performing 10% to 15% of the portfolio at growth stages, while the Artha Continuum Fund provides a structured syndication platform for family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, bringing both capital and strategic access to scaling companies.

Across its platforms, Artha has backed more than 135 companies with more than 34 exits and has supported the creation of five unicorns and more than 12 companies valued above ₹2,000 crore. The portfolio spans sectors where India is building long-term capability, including applied AI, deep tech such as space and semiconductors, fintech infrastructure and premium consumer brands.

Damani’s investment philosophy is anchored in disciplined company building. He believes the strongest companies are built in constrained environments where founders are forced to prioritize execution, capital efficiency and clarity of scale from day one. Artha’s strategy reflects this, deploying widely at entry but concentrating capital aggressively into high-performing companies over time.

Beyond investing, Damani is an active voice in the founder and investor ecosystem through writing, public speaking and his podcast, #DamaniTalks, where he engages with founders, investors and operators on company building, capital allocation and long-term value creation.

He graduated from Austin College in Texas with a double major. Outside of venture capital, he pursues high-discipline activities such as deep-sea diving and skydiving and closely follows cricket and global markets.
