Animal Collective

Animal Collective is an American experimental pop band composed of David Portner (Avey Tare), Noah Lennox (Panda Bear), Brian Weitz (Geologist), and Josh Dibb (Deakin). Originating from Baltimore County, the members began collaborating in their youth and later established their own record label, Paw Tracks. The band released its debut album, "Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished," marking the start of a career defined by an eclectic blend of psychedelia, freak folk, noise, and electronica. Their music incorporates loops, drones, sampling, vocal harmonies, and sound collage, contributing to the evolution of independent and experimental music.

Animal Collective gained recognition with the album "Sung Tongs" and achieved commercial success with "Strawberry Jam," which appeared on the Billboard 200. The release of "Merriweather Post Pavilion" marked a significant point in the band's career, reaching No. 13 on the US chart and influencing the direction of psychedelic pop and indie music. The band has performed at major music festivals, including Coachella, and developed a global following.

Continuing to evolve, Animal Collective released albums such as "Centipede Hz" and "Painting With," consistently exploring new musical directions. The members have also engaged in solo and side projects, expanding their impact within the experimental and independent music scenes. Collaborations include work with folk singer Vashti Bunyan on the "Prospect Hummer" EP and composing a film score for the documentary "Crestone."

Animal Collective's creative process has included writing retreats and remote collaboration, as seen in the production of "Time Skiffs." The band recorded "Isn't It Now?" live in the studio, further demonstrating their commitment to innovation and collaboration.
