Angie Harmon

Angie Harmon is an actress and former model best known for her commanding performances in television crime dramas, particularly "Law & Order" and "Rizzoli & Isles." Born in Dallas, Texas, she began modeling as a child and won Seventeen magazine’s national modeling contest at age 15. She went on to build a successful international modeling career, working with designers including Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan and appearing in magazines such as ELLE, Cosmopolitan and Esquire.

Harmon transitioned to acting in the mid-1990s, landing her first major television role as Detective Ryan McBride on "Baywatch Nights." Her breakthrough came in 1998 when she joined "Law & Order" as Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael, a role she played through 2001 and reprised in crossover appearances on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." She also provided the voice of Commissioner Barbara Gordon in "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" and appeared in films including "Agent Cody Banks" and "Seraphim Falls."

After several film and television projects, Harmon returned to television in her signature role as Boston Police Detective Jane Rizzoli on TNT’s "Rizzoli & Isles," which ran from 2010 to 2016. Her performance earned her a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Series and a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Actress. Harmon also directed the show’s 100th episode.

With her distinctive husky voice, strong screen presence and talent for portraying confident, formidable women, Harmon has established a career spanning modeling, television, film and directing. She has also been involved with charitable organizations including UNICEF, the Alliance for Children’s Rights and Stand Up to Cancer.
