Andy Verity is the award-winning Economics Correspondent for BBC News, reporting across BBC TV, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, Newsnight, Panorama and File on Four. A familiar voice on "Today," "Six O’Clock News" and the BBC News channel, he covers major economic stories including the UK’s worst inflation in decades, recession pressures and historic shifts in the jobs market.

Verity joined the BBC from The Independent, first as Personal Finance Correspondent—winning Journalist of the Year and Broadcaster of the Year—before spending eight years presenting "Wake Up to Money" on Radio 5 Live. He has long reported on systemic risks, fronting BBC2’s "The Truth About Property" ahead of the 2008 financial crisis.

As BBC Economics Correspondent since 2014, he has covered the economic fallout of Brexit, the pandemic and the Ukraine-driven inflation surge. His investigative work includes Panorama films on the Bank of England’s role in the Libor scandal and the award-shortlisted Radio 4 series "The Lowball Tapes," which uncovered evidence of a major financial cover-up and prompted a case to be sent back to the Court of Appeal.

Verity's 2023 book "Rigged" revealed central banks’ deeper involvement in interest rate manipulation and was widely covered across the media. He has also investigated money laundering and organized crime, including a widely reported incident in which he was assaulted while reporting undercover.

A respected figure in business journalism, Verity is also an experienced moderator and event host.
