Andy North

Andy North is a professional golfer and sports broadcaster whose career includes achievements on the PGA Tour and in golf broadcasting with ESPN. North is known for winning two U.S. Open championships, at Cherry Hills in Denver and at Oakland Hills in Birmingham, Michigan. He turned professional after graduating with a bachelor of science degree in marketing and finance from the University of Florida, where he was a three-time All-America. Before turning professional, North won the Wisconsin Amateur and the Western Amateur.

North began his golf career in his home state after a knee injury redirected his athletic focus. He competed in the Ryder Cup and the World Cup, and won the PGA Tour's Westchester Classic. North played full-time on the PGA Tour until injuries limited his participation, leading him to transition into a television role. His experience as a major championship winner and deep understanding of golf strategy have informed his work as a golf analyst.

North joined ESPN as an on-course golf reporter and later became the lead on-course reporter for ESPN and ABC Sports. He has served as the lead analyst on ESPN's golf studio shows, providing in-depth analysis and major championship previews. North became known for concluding his U.S. Open preview show by dressing in a doctor's outfit and using a formula to predict the tournament winner, a tradition that blended golf expertise with entertainment.

Off the course, North is a skin-cancer survivor who has supported cancer research at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center through the Andy North and Friends Initiative. He has been recognized with the Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence for his work in cancer research fundraising. North is a member and past chair of the Board of Trustees of Sanford Health and serves as host of the Sanford International, a PGA Tour Champions event.

North has been inducted into the Wisconsin Golf Hall of Fame, the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, and the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame, reflecting his impact as a competitor and as an ambassador for golf.
