André Esteves

André Esteves is the chairman, senior partner, and controlling shareholder of BTG Pactual, the largest independent investment bank in Latin America. Beginning his career in the technology department at Pactual, Esteves advanced to partner and later led the bank’s fixed income division. He played a key role in transforming BTG Pactual from a mid-sized institution into a regional investment banking firm, overseeing its international expansion and public offering.

Esteves’s career includes leadership roles following Pactual’s acquisition by UBS, where he served as CEO and chairman of UBS Pactual and global head of fixed income, currencies, and commodities at UBS. He later led a group of partners to reacquire Pactual, rebranding it as BTG Pactual and guiding it through significant market challenges. Esteves is recognized for his pragmatic, results-driven leadership style and commitment to leveraging technology in Latin American finance.

In addition to his business activities, Esteves serves on the boards of Conservation International, Inteli, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the co-founder and sponsor of Inteli, a nonprofit university focused on technology and leadership, and supports initiatives in education, the environment, and healthcare. Esteves is regarded as a thought leader in global finance and frequently participates in public forums related to investment banking and financial technology.
