Andrew Peterson is an American Christian singer-songwriter, author, producer, and community builder whose work spans music, literature, and visual storytelling. Peterson's career began in the mid-1990s with his first independent release, an eight-song EP titled "Walk." While touring the country, Peterson gained wider recognition when Caedmon's Call invited him on tour, leading to his signing with Watershed/Essential Records and the release of his first full-length album, "Carried Along." The album was named one of the Top 10 albums of the year by CCM Magazine. Peterson established himself with albums such as "Love & Thunder," "The Far Country," and "Resurrection Letters, Vol. 2," the latter reaching number nine on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart.
Peterson's musical output has earned both critical recognition and commercial success. His album "Counting Stars" debuted at number seven on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, and his single "Dancing in the Minefields" reached number 13 on Billboard's Top Christian Songs chart, remaining on the chart for 19 weeks. The anthology "After All These Years: A Collection" highlights his catalog, and his studio album "The Burning Edge of Dawn" reached number three on the Billboard Christian chart. Peterson later released "Resurrection Letters: Prologue" and "Resurrection Letters, Volume One," which featured "Is He Worthy?"—co-written with Ben Shive—a song later covered on Chris Tomlin's "Holy Roar" album. Peterson has received multiple Dove Award nominations and earned a Dove Award in the Musical/Choral Collection category for "Behold the Lamb of God," a re-recorded edition of his Christmas album that narrates the Nativity story through folk-infused songs.
Beyond music, Peterson has built a career as an author. He wrote the four-book fantasy and adventure series for young adults, "The Wingfeather Saga," published by Waterbrook Press, a subsidiary of Random House, and Rabbit Room Press. The second novel, "North! Or Be Eaten," won the Christy Award for Young Adult Fiction. The series concluded with "The Warden and the Wolf King," which won the Clive Staples Award for Imaginative Fiction. The Wingfeather Saga has also received the Christy Award for Young Adult Fiction, the Clive Staples Award, and the WORLD Magazine Children's Book of the Year, and has been a regular bestseller on Amazon.
"The Wingfeather Saga" has been adapted into an animated television series by Angel Studios, with Peterson serving as an executive producer and providing the voice of Oskar N. Reteep and other characters. In addition to his creative work, Peterson is the founder and president of The Rabbit Room, which has published 30 books and fosters community and spiritual formation through music, story, and art. Peterson's work in Christian music, faith-based literature, and community building underscores his commitment to storytelling across multiple platforms.
