Andrew G. Kaplan

Andrew G. Kaplan is the senior vice president of U.S. Public Affairs at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, serving as a member of both the U.S. Business Unit’s executive leadership team and the Global Public Affairs leadership team. In this role, Kaplan oversees Takeda’s government affairs, public policy, reimbursement strategies, and third-party engagement across the United States. He also leads the company’s U.S. community health initiatives, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and health equity efforts, with a focus on advancing public health and access to care.

Kaplan’s career spans healthcare, public policy, and government relations. Before joining Takeda, he was vice president of federal government affairs and head of the Washington, D.C., office at AbbVie, directing advocacy efforts before Congress, the White House, and federal agencies. His tenure at AstraZeneca included various corporate affairs roles, culminating in oversight of the Washington, D.C., office and management of policy issues such as entitlement reform and deficit reduction. Prior to his pharmaceutical industry roles, Kaplan spent more than a decade in political campaign management, contributing to presidential campaigns, U.S. Senate races, and congressional and gubernatorial campaigns.
