Andrea Canning has been a correspondent for Dateline NBC since 2012, where she reports on major crime and investigative stories.
Before joining NBC News, she worked as a correspondent for ABC News (United States) beginning in 2004, covering national politics, the White House, the Supreme Court, and the Iraq War for the network’s affiliate service, NewsOne.
During her time at ABC News, Canning reported on major events including Hurricane Katrina, the Casey Anthony case, and a widely publicized 2011 interview with actor Charlie Sheen. She also contributed to programs such as “Good Morning America,” “Nightline,” “World News With Diane Sawyer,” and “20/20,” while anchoring early morning broadcasts including “World News Now” and “America This Morning.”
Earlier in her career, Canning anchored evening newscasts and covered crime and breaking news for WCPO-TV, WPTV, CKVR Television, and WXVT-CBS. She also worked as an assignment editor and field producer for “Extra”.
