Andraya Carter

Andraya Carter is a sports analyst and reporter known for her work with ESPN and SEC Network, contributing to basketball broadcasting across multiple platforms. Carter played as a guard for the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers, where she was recruited by Pat Summitt and was part of the final class to sign with the coach. During her collegiate basketball career, Carter earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and led the conference in steals, reflecting her basketball acumen. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Tennessee and was named the Arthur Ashe Female Sports Scholar of the Year.

After injuries ended her playing career, Carter transitioned to broadcasting, beginning with calling Tennessee basketball games online for ESPN3. This opportunity led to a full-time career in sports media. Carter joined ESPN as a game analyst, primarily working on SEC Network, and has covered the WNBA, NBA, women's and men's college basketball, college football, the Women's Final Four, the Women's College World Series, and the Beach Volleyball National Championship.

Carter is the only analyst at ESPN who covers NBA, WNBA, NCAA women's, and NCAA men's basketball. She has served as an analyst on women's "College GameDay" and became the first woman desk analyst on men's "College GameDay." Carter was part of the ESPN basketball analyst team for the Women's Final Four, during which the women's NCAA championship game set a viewership record, surpassing the men's title game in audience size. She is one of two ESPN college sports reporters who report from the sidelines of football games and analyze a different sport from the studio.

Carter has received several honors, including the NSMA Best Young Reporter Award, the Dawn Staley Excellence in Broadcasting Award, and a nomination for the Outstanding Emerging Talent Emmy Award. The Athletic recognized her as a "40 under 40: Rising Star in Women's Basketball" for her work as an analyst. Carter volunteers at the Tennessee School for the Deaf, speaks to women's basketball teams, and participates in ESPN initiatives such as The Undefeated's "Black History Always" and "The Pulse."
