Ami B. Bhatt

Dr. Ami B. Bhatt, MD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist recognized for her work at the intersection of clinical medicine, digital health, and artificial intelligence. Bhatt graduated from Harvard College and the Yale School of Medicine, completed her medicine and pediatrics residency at Harvard, her adult cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and her adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital.

With more than 20 years of experience as a clinician, investigator, and educator, Bhatt has served as an associate professor in medicine at Harvard Medical School and as director of outpatient cardiology, TeleCardiology, and adult congenital heart disease at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Bhatt began her work in digital health prior to its widespread adoption in medicine. She founded her first program in virtual care and has developed culturally relevant, personalized virtual cardiovascular care delivery models. Her research focuses on identifying and implementing solutions to overcome access barriers to cardiovascular and telemedicine care. Bhatt has led national telemedicine education through the American College of Cardiology and supported countries in delivering remote care during public health emergencies.

The American College of Cardiology named Bhatt its chief innovation officer, where she collaborated with the innovation team on the digital transformation of cardiovascular care, including virtual care, remote monitoring, digital health, and advanced analytics and artificial intelligence-driven care. She has contributed to the development of the AI-enabled clinician, working with technology companies to ensure equitable implementation and scale of high-quality, cost-effective systems, and advising on investment in transformational healthcare companies. Bhatt also co-designed the MGH Elevate Leadership Program, which focuses on fostering agility, communication, and creativity to develop future leaders in medicine.

Bhatt's work extends into health policy and regulation. As the inaugural chair of the Food and Drug Administration Digital Health Advisory Committee, she contributed to the evaluation and integration of AI tools in healthcare. She led the committee's first meeting on generative AI regulatory frameworks and serves as a cardiovascular advisor to the FDA TAP program for breakthrough medical devices. Bhatt also advises the Consumer Technology Association, the Governmental Accountability Office, and other industry, nonprofit, and government groups in the United States and internationally. She is an author and speaker with global invited keynotes, TEDx and related talks, articles, textbooks, and podcasts spanning cardiovascular disease, digital health, and the physician experience.

Bhatt became chief medical officer of WHOOP, a Boston-based wearable technology company, where she contributes to the company's consumer health strategy. Her role supports WHOOP's efforts to combine continuous physiological monitoring with clinically relevant insights, positioning the platform at the intersection of everyday health management and traditional healthcare. Bhatt's experience across clinical care, digital health, and AI regulation informs the company's approach to science and technology, ensuring clinical relevance and utility for members and clinicians. Her career reflects a commitment to advancing high-quality, personalized, and accessible cardiovascular care.
