Ambassador Rahul Chhabra

Ambassador Rahul Chhabra is a former secretary for economic relations to the Government of India and a career diplomat with more than four decades of global leadership experience spanning geopolitics, geoeconomics, multilateral negotiations, development finance and strategic diplomacy. Chhabra has served as India’s ambassador, high commissioner and senior diplomat across Asia, Europe, Africa and the United States, and as permanent representative to the United Nations in Nairobi. He led India’s $40 billion Development Partnership Program and played a key role in shaping India’s global trade, investment and strategic technology policies.

Chhabra has held senior diplomatic postings in Beijing, Washington, Paris, Brussels, Budapest, Manila, Dakar and Nairobi, and was actively involved in advancing the India-U.S. civil nuclear agreement. He is an independent board director at IIRM Holdings India Ltd. and Greenlam Industries Ltd., and has served as senior adviser to the United Nations Development Programme on South-South cooperation. A frequent keynote speaker at Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Chicago Booth, Chhabra delivers strategic, interactive talks on Indo-Pacific strategy, supply chains, leadership in a multipolar world and navigating geopolitical disruption.
