Amanda Blanc

Dame Amanda Blanc is known for her leadership roles in esteemed organizations such as Aviva, Zurich, and AXA, and for being the first woman to chair the Association of British Insurers and past president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Blanc was awarded a Damehood in the King’s New Year Honours in January 2024.

Appointed to the Aviva plc Board as a non-executive director in early 2020 and as group chief executive officer that summer.

Blanc has greatly simplified Aviva, successfully divesting eight non-core businesses. Aviva is now focused on our core markets in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Amanda has also overseen a significant strengthening of Aviva’s financial position. Blanc is a director of Aviva Group Holdings Limited.

Blanc is now focused on accelerating Aviva’s performance: capitalizing on the structural growth opportunities in our core markets; providing customers with a simpler, more personalized offering, transforming our cost base and delivering our market-leading sustainability commitments. Aviva is the first major insurer in the world to target to become net zero by 2040.

She started her career as a graduate at one of Aviva’s ancestor companies, Commercial Union. Following success in senior executive roles across the insurance industry, she came back to Aviva as CEO in July 2020.

Blac serves as the CEO of Aviva and holds non-executive roles in various organizations including the Welsh Professional Rugby Board and energy company BP, and co-chairs the UK Transition Plan Taskforce highlighting her commitment to climate change.

With her extensive experience in the insurance industry, leadership in various corporations, and involvement in climate change initiatives, she is a sought-after speaker on topics such as insurance, business leadership, and environmental sustainability.

In July 2024, Amanda received honorary degrees from the University of Liverpool and Buckinghamshire New University.
