Allison Jones

Allison Jones is a multi-sport Paralympian who has represented Team USA in both alpine skiing and cycling across eight Paralympic Games. Born with proximal femoral focal deficiency, a condition resulting in the absence of her right femur, Jones began using a prosthetic limb at nine months old and developed into a competitive athlete in two disciplines. She made her Paralympic debut in alpine skiing at the Salt Lake City Winter Games and competed in every Summer and Winter Paralympics through her retirement, earning eight Paralympic medals—two gold, three silver, and three bronze—across both sports.

Jones became the second American woman to win gold medals at both the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games, capturing gold in the cycling individual road time trial at the London Paralympics and previously winning gold in alpine skiing slalom at the Turin Winter Paralympics. In addition to her Paralympic achievements, she has earned 31 World Championship medals, including 13 golds, in cycling. Jones holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Denver, where she received the Pioneer Award, the university's highest undergraduate honor.

Following her athletic career, Jones transitioned to a full-time role as an engineer. She was selected as the flag bearer for the Rio Paralympic Opening Ceremony and was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. Jones's career highlights her expertise in adaptive sports, Paralympic competition, and engineering, and she is recognized for her perspectives on resilience, adaptability, and determination.
