Allan Karl

Allan Karl is a best-selling author, global adventurer, television host, and keynote speaker known for his work in travel, adventure, and digital marketing. Karl began his career as an entrepreneur, co-founding the national top-50 digital marketing agency Wire Stone. Serving as vice president of creative services, he guided the agency through more than 10 strategic acquisitions, working with clients such as Apple, AT&T, eBay, Hewlett-Packard, and Sony. The company expanded to over 200 employees with offices in nine cities and was later acquired by Accenture.

After leaving his executive role, Karl embarked on a solo motorcycle journey, traveling from Newport Beach, California, to Alaska, across Canada, through Mexico, Central and South America, and onward to Africa, Europe, and Asia. Over three years, he covered 62,000 miles across 35 countries on five continents. During his travels, Karl overcame significant challenges, including a serious leg injury in the Bolivian Andes and encounters in remote regions. He also learned to speak Spanish, Portuguese, and some Arabic.

Karl documented his experiences in the book "Forks: A Quest for Culture, Cuisine, and Connection," which features stories, photographs, and recipes from his travels. The book includes 40 recipes and 700 photos, with each chapter highlighting a destination and its national dish. "Forks" has drawn comparisons to the work of Anthony Bourdain and led to appearances on Good Morning America, NBC, CBS, and Fox, as well as a national book tour. Karl has continued to travel extensively, visiting more than 80 countries and participating in adventures such as sailing the Flores Sea, climbing volcanoes in Indonesia, swimming in the Arctic Ocean, trekking Central American jungles, and competing in The Dakar motorsport race.

Karl writes books, delivers keynote speeches, hosts a television show, and produces the "Journeys With WorldRider" podcast. He also writes for "An Inspired Life of Travel" on Substack. In his presentations, Karl addresses topics including adventure, personal growth, creativity, innovation, resilience, communication, travel as education, and leadership.
