Ali Krieger

Ali Krieger's professional soccer career is punctuated by a series of notable accomplishments and leadership roles. Her tenure with the NJ/NY Gotham FC, where she served as captain, culminated in an NWSL Championship in 2023, the same year she finalized her professional career. Krieger's excellence on the field was recognized multiple times, as evidenced by her four nominations to the NWSL Best XI. Additionally, she represented the United States at three FIFA Women's World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019), participating in the national team's victories in 2015 and 2019.

Before her professional career, Krieger distinguished herself in collegiate soccer, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2003 and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, among other recognitions. Her transition to professional soccer was marked by success, as she helped FFC Frankfurt secure Bundesliga, Frauen DFB–Pokal, and UEFA Cup Championships in the 2007–08 season. Her influence was also felt in the National Women's Soccer League, where she was allocated to the Washington Spirit for its inaugural season in 2013 and served as the team's captain between 2014 and 2016 before being traded to the Orlando Pride.

Off the field, Krieger has demonstrated her passion for the sport and her commitment to using her platform for good. Since her retirement, she has hosted the ESPN show "Futbol W" and expressed interest in coaching at the professional or national team level after earning her U.S. Soccer "C" license. Krieger's philanthropic efforts include working with MiracleFeet, assisting children with clubfoot in developing countries, and serving as an ambassador for Athlete Ally, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homophobia and transphobia in sports.
