Alex Witt

Alex Witt is a television news journalist known for her extensive tenure at MSNBC, where she served as the network's longest-running anchor. Witt graduated from the University of Southern California and began her career working both behind and in front of the camera at California stations, including roles as a producer at KCBS and KNBC. She later became a field producer at NBC's "Today" before transitioning to on-air reporting at Los Angeles stations such as KCBS-TV, KNBC-TV, and KABC-TV. Witt also reported for WNYW-TV in New York City, covering stories across the New York metropolitan area before joining NBC.

At MSNBC, Witt anchored more hours than any other anchor in the network's history, reporting from the field during presidential campaigns and international assignments. Her coverage has included major news events such as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the September 11 attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic, royal weddings, and Hurricane Katrina. Witt broadcast from the World Trade Center following the September 11 attacks and reported live from Windsor, England, for the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, as well as from London during commemorations for Princess Diana.

Witt hosted the news program "Alex Witt Reports" on weekends on MS NOW and previously anchored "MSNBC Live" and "Morning Joe First Look." She also hosted the series "MSNBC Adventurer" and several primetime special broadcasts, including coverage of the Asian tsunami. Witt maintained a consistent executive, senior, and line producer team for two decades, an uncommon achievement in cable news.
