Alex Golesh

Alex Golesh's career in football coaching is laden with notable accomplishments, leading him to his current role as the head coach at Auburn University. His journey began with coaching positions at several esteemed institutions including Iowa State, UCF, and Illinois, where he made significant contributions to the teams' performance. Particularly, during his tenure at Iowa State, Golesh improved the performance of the tight ends, leading to successful seasons and bowl appearances. Similarly, at UCF, the team ranked highly in various offensive categories under his guidance in the 2020 season.

Following his successes at previous institutions, Golesh was appointed as the head coach at the University of South Florida (USF) on December 4, 2022. He demonstrated his knack for transformative leadership by improving USF's football program from a 4-29 record over three seasons to a commendable 23-15 record under his leadership. This included leading USF to its first bowl win since 2017 with a 45-0 victory over Syracuse at the Boca Raton Bowl. By 2025, Golesh's USF team achieved a 9-3 record, their best in eight years, and ranked third nationally in total offense.

Under Golesh's guidance, several players have developed their skills and achieved significant milestones. For instance, he coached quarterback Byrum Brown, who set records at USF for single-season passing yards and became the first USF quarterback to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 in a season. Golesh’s coaching strategies have been influential in developing players who have gone on to participate in the NFL Combine and be drafted into the NFL. As a testament to his success, on November 30, 2025, Golesh finalized a six-year deal to become the head coach of the Auburn Tigers, signaling continued promise for his future contributions to the sport.
