Alex Flanagan Biography
Alex Flanagan is a sports journalist whose career has contributed to the evolution of sports broadcasting. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Flanagan began her career as a news reporter and anchor before transitioning to sports coverage. She has worked for NBC Sports, NFL Network, ESPN, and Fox Sports, building expertise in sports media, sports journalism, and television broadcasting.
Flanagan was a reporter for the National Sports Report and served as a producer and reporter on the Emmy-nominated weekly sports investigative magazine show "Goin' Deep," hosted by Joe Buck and later Chris Myers. At ESPN, she helped launch the entertainment-themed segment for SportsCenter, "Hollywood Highlights," co-hosted the Home Depot College Football Awards, and participated in ESPN Classic road shows. Her assignments included coverage of spring training, the NBA playoffs, college football bowl games, the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and a weekly segment for NFL Monday Night Countdown.
Flanagan was the first woman to anchor at NFL Network and to report from the sidelines for NFL's Thursday Night Football and NBC's Notre Dame football. She reported for NBC's "Football Night in America" and NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football," contributed to Today Show, hosted the NFL Draft, and covered 12 Super Bowls and five Olympic Games. During NBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics, she anchored six hours of Olympic coverage nightly on CNBC and USA Network. Among her assignments, she covered Super Bowl XLIII as part of the broadcast team with Al Michaels and John Madden.
Flanagan transitioned from sports broadcasting to roles as a talent agent and career strategist, joining The Montag Group as vice president of broadcasting.
