Alan Light Biography
Alan Light is a journalist specializing in music reporting and criticism. Light began his career at Rolling Stone, where he advanced from intern to fact checker and later served as a senior writer and rock critic for the magazine.
Light was the founding music editor for Vibe Magazine and later became its editor-in-chief. He also served as editor-in-chief for Spin Magazine. His experience includes work as a music reviewer on WFUV radio and as a music correspondent for the NPR show Weekend America. Light contributes regularly to The New York Times and is the author of several books, including "What Happened, Miss Simone?," "Let's Go Crazy," and "The Holy or the Broken."
A graduate of Yale University, Light's commentary often explores the intersection of music and culture. He participates as a public speaker and panelist at music industry events, and his work has appeared in documentaries, reflecting his ongoing influence in music journalism.
