Al Horford

Al Horford is a Dominican professional basketball player recognized for his versatility and impact in the National Basketball Association. Horford played a key role in collegiate basketball, helping the Florida Gators secure consecutive national championships. His collegiate honors include Second-team All-American – NABC, Third-team All-American – AP, and SEC Tournament MVP.

Horford entered the NBA after his junior year, selected third overall by the Atlanta Hawks. He was the only player unanimously chosen for the NBA All-Rookie First Team in his debut season and became a consistent starter for Atlanta. During his nine seasons with the Hawks, Horford was named an NBA All-Star four times and overcame significant injuries, including two torn pectoral muscles, to return to All-Star form.

Following his tenure with the Hawks, Horford joined the Boston Celtics as a free agent, becoming the first All-Star free agent to sign with Boston in decades. He earned another All-Star selection and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team during his three seasons with the Celtics. Horford also played for the Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder before returning to Boston, where he contributed to the team's appearances in the NBA Finals and won his first NBA championship with the Celtics. This achievement made Horford the first Dominican player to win an NBA championship and placed him among the league's most experienced playoff competitors.

Horford brought the Larry O'Brien Trophy to the Dominican Republic and received the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella, the nation's highest civilian and military honor. Over his career, Horford has averaged 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in more than 1,183 regular-season games and has been selected for five NBA All-Star Games. With the Golden State Warriors, Horford became the 13th player in NBA history to reach 20 seasons. His leadership, defensive skills, and ability to stretch the floor have established Horford as a significant figure in professional basketball.
