Aidan Hutchinson

Aidan Hutchinson is recognized as a leading defensive player in the National Football League (NFL). A graduate of the University of Michigan, Hutchinson played four seasons for the Wolverines, concluding his college football career by setting the program's single-season sack record with 14 sacks. He earned several individual honors, including the Ted Hendricks Award, Lombardi Award, Lott IMPACT Trophy, and the Chicago Tribune Silver Football. Hutchinson was also a Heisman Trophy finalist, the only defensive player among three quarterbacks named as finalists.

Hutchinson was selected second overall by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the NFL Draft and was named to the All-Rookie Team. In his debut season, he became the first rookie in NFL history to record 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries, joining Hall of Fame defensive end Richard Dent as the only defensive linemen to achieve this combination. He was recognized as the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. In his second season, Hutchinson led the league in quarterback hits, ranked second in quarterback hurries, and was second in total pressures generated, while tying for the second-most pass defenses by a defensive lineman.

Throughout his career, Hutchinson has set multiple NFL records. He joins Clay Matthews and Lawrence Taylor as the only players to record at least 25 sacks and four interceptions in their first three seasons. He is also one of four players to register a three-sack game in each of his first three seasons, alongside Justin Houston, Jevon Kearse, and Reggie White. Hutchinson faced a significant setback after suffering a leg injury against the Dallas Cowboys, fracturing both his tibia and fibula, which required surgery. Before the injury, he had recorded 7.5 sacks and 19 total tackles in five games.

Following his recovery, Hutchinson returned to play all 17 regular-season games, achieving career highs in total tackles, sacks, and forced fumbles. His 14.5 sacks ranked fourth in the NFL. He was named Second-Team All-Pro and earned his second Pro Bowl selection, joining T.J. Watt as the only players to accumulate at least 37 sacks and four interceptions through the first 50 games of a career. Hutchinson was also a finalist for both the Defensive Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year awards. He signed a four-year contract extension with the Lions, setting a new record for guaranteed money among non-quarterback players. Hutchinson continues to serve as a cornerstone of the Detroit Lions' defense and is regarded as one of the premier pass rushers in professional football.
