Aida Osman

Aida Osman is a writer, stand-up comedian, and actress known for her work in television, comedy, and screenwriting. Of Eritrean descent, Osman graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in philosophy before transitioning from bartending to professional writing. She was accepted into law school but deferred her admission to pursue comedy, beginning her stand-up career in Nebraska before moving to New York City. Her early television appearances include "Wild 'N Out," followed by writing for Complex and starring in the company's TV mini-series "Group Therapy."

Osman has contributed as a writer to Netflix's "Big Mouth," HBO's "Betty," and the MAX series "Rap Sh!t," where she also co-stars and serves as executive story editor. In "Rap Sh!t," Osman portrays Shawna, a hotel receptionist and aspiring rapper navigating the music industry. The series highlights Osman's musical talents, earning her a nomination from the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for Best Song Written and/or Recorded for Television for "Seduce & Scheme," featured in the episode "Something for the Hood." In 2026, she was featured in Netflix's "The Hawk."

Osman was named to the Hollywood & Entertainment 30 Under 30 list by Forbes Magazine, recognized for her efforts to increase representation in the entertainment industry as a Muslim, queer, and Black woman. She also served as co-host of the Crooked Media podcast "Keep It" alongside Louis Virtel and Ira Madison III. In addition to her creative work, Osman has engaged in humanitarian efforts, including organizing a GoFundMe for David McAtee that raised significant funds for the McAtee family.

With credits spanning television, film, podcasting, stand-up, and music, Osman draws from her experiences as a Black Muslim woman, incorporating themes of identity, relationships, and cultural navigation. Her work in comedy, television writing, and acting continues to resonate with audiences and industry peers.
