Ahmed Ahmed

Ahmed Ahmed is an Egyptian-American actor, stand-up comedian, producer, and director known for his work in film, television, and live comedy. Ahmed began his acting career at age 19 and initially appeared in roles that often typecast Middle Eastern actors. Seeking creative autonomy, he transitioned into stand-up comedy, where he established a reputation for addressing cultural identity and representation.

Ahmed's film credits include roles in "Executive Decision," "Swingers," "Iron Man," and "You Don't Mess with the Zohan." On television, he has appeared in series such as "Tracy Takes On," "Weeds," and "Roseanne." Ahmed has also performed on "The Tonight Show," "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show," and was a series regular on TBS comedy "Sullivan & Son."

Ahmed co-founded the "Axis of Evil Comedy Tour," which aired on Comedy Central as the first stand-up comedy special featuring Middle Eastern comedians. The tour performed for audiences throughout the Middle East, reaching more than 20,000 people. He has headlined at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, where he leads "Arabian Knights," a showcase for comics of Middle Eastern descent. Ahmed has also released two Showtime comedy specials.

As a filmmaker, Ahmed directed the documentary "Just Like Us," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was selected for 30 international film festivals. The documentary follows Ahmed and a group of American comedians as they perform in Dubai, Egypt, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. "Just Like Us" has been distributed on Netflix, Starz, Showtime, and other streaming platforms.

Ahmed's work has been recognized with the Richard Pryor Award for ethnic comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. He was featured in the PBS documentary series America at a Crossroads in the episode "Stand Up: Muslim American Comics Come of Age." Following 9/11, Ahmed toured the United States with comedian Bob Alper in the show "One Arab, One Jew, One Stage," which focused on interfaith dialogue and cultural understanding. Ahmed continues to perform internationally, using comedy to foster cross-cultural connections and address issues of diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry.
