Adam Vinatieri

Adam Vinatieri is a former professional football placekicker who played in the National Football League for 24 seasons with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. After going undrafted, Vinatieri signed with New England as a free agent and played his first 10 professional seasons with the Patriots. As a punter and kicker at South Dakota State, Vinatieri graduated as the football team's all-time leading scorer.

Vinatieri is the NFL's all-time leading scorer with 2,673 points and holds league records for field goals made (599), postseason points (238), and overtime field goals made (12). He connected on an NFL-record 44 consecutive field goals with the Colts and had 21 seasons with 100 or more points scored, the most in league history. Vinatieri is also the only player to score 1,000 points for two different franchises.

Vinatieri is recognized for his kicking accuracy and performance under pressure, completing several of the most crucial field goals in NFL history. During the 2001–02 NFL playoffs, he converted the game-tying and winning kicks in New England's AFC Divisional Playoff game in blizzard conditions and the game-winning kick in the final seconds of Super Bowl XXXVI. With the Patriots, Vinatieri connected on last-second game-winning field goals to clinch Super Bowl XXXVI and Super Bowl XXXVIII. In the 2006 playoffs, he made 14 field goals to help the Colts secure their first Indianapolis-era Lombardi Trophy. Vinatieri is a four-time Super Bowl winner, with three championships for the Patriots and one for the Colts, and holds the record for most Super Bowl wins by a kicker.

Vinatieri was selected as an AP first-team All-Pro three times and named to three Pro Bowl teams. He is a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2000s and one of two kickers on the NFL 100 All-Time Team, alongside Pro Football Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud. He earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors 19 times and was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month five times. Vinatieri retired as the last active NFL player whose career began in the 1990s.

Vinatieri was announced as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Modern Era Class and is one of only three players to play exclusively as a kicker to be inducted, joining Jan Stenerud and Morten Andersen. He is also set for induction into the Colts Ring of Honor at Lucas Oil Stadium as the 21st honoree in franchise history. Vinatieri's career is noted for perseverance, precision, and performance under pressure, making him a recognized authority on excellence, mental toughness, and high-performance sports.
