Adam Skolnick

Adam Skolnick is a journalist, author, and podcaster whose work covers adventure sports, environmental issues, and civil rights. He has contributed to The New York Times, Outside, ESPN, BBC, and Men's Health. Skolnick has visited 45 countries and authored or co-authored 25 Lonely Planet guidebooks, bringing a global perspective to his reporting.

Skolnick gained recognition as a book author with "One Breath: Freediving, Death and the Quest to Shatter Human Limits," published by Crown. The book originated from a New York Times assignment covering a freediving competition where athlete Nick Mevoli lost his life, an event that became a front-page story. "One Breath" has been published in three languages, remains in print, and inspired the team behind the Netflix documentary "The Deepest Breath." His reporting on Mevoli's death at Vertical Blue earned him two APSE awards.

Skolnick is also known as the ghostwriter and audiobook narrator for two memoirs by David Goggins, including "Can't Hurt Me" and "Never Finished." The audiobook version of "Can't Hurt Me," which Skolnick narrated, expanded his reach in the world of storytelling. He also authored "Forever Swim," chronicling the achievements of open-water swimmer Antonio Arguelles.

Skolnick made his fiction debut with "American Tiger," a novel inspired by the true story of a tiger roaming Simi Valley, California. He previously reported on the incident for LA Weekly.
