Adam Gertler

Adam Gertler is an American chef, television host, and performer known for his diverse contributions to food television and culinary entertainment. Gertler graduated from Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting and participated in various stage productions, including a 24-hour onstage performance. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, his interest in food and cooking led him to explore a culinary career. Gertler worked in roles ranging from short-order cook and server to caterer and donut froster, developing a passion for barbecue during college and experimenting with recipes while catering for friends and family.

Gertler's professional culinary career began as executive chef at The Smoked Joint, a Philadelphia barbecue restaurant co-owned with his brother, Keith. Following this experience, he auditioned for the national television competition "Food Network Star," advancing to the final challenge and finishing as runner-up. His performance led to hosting "Will Work for Food" on Food Network, where he explored a variety of food-related jobs, from ice sculpting to competitive eating.

He went on to host "Kid in a Candy Store" on Food Network, traveling across the United States to highlight innovative and popular sweet treats and the places where they are made. Gertler's television presence expanded to Destination America, where he hosted the food reality contest "Last Call Food Brawl," challenging chefs in cities nationwide. He also hosted "Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown" on FYI, a cooking competition featuring executive chefs competing against young culinary prodigies, with guest judges including Hubert Keller, Ludo Lefebvre, Mary Sue Milliken, Josiah Citrin, and Antonia Lofaso.

Beyond culinary television, Gertler is a host of the DC Movie News podcast on the Popcorn Talk Network, reflecting his versatility in both food and entertainment media. He has contributed to nonprofit organizations, teaching theater to grade-school children and catering for groups such as the Philadelphia Red Cross. Gertler also co-founded Vesti's focaccia sandwiches in Los Angeles, further establishing his presence in the food business. His career encompasses hosting culinary competitions, exploring American food traditions, and building culinary brands, positioning him as a recognized figure in food television and culinary entrepreneurship.
