A Boogie wit da Hoodie

Julius Dubose, known professionally as A Boogie wit da Hoodie—or simply A Boogie—is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Highbridge, Bronx, New York City. He is signed to Highbridge the Label and Atlantic Records and is best known for his breakout single, "My Shit," from his debut mixtape Artist.

Dubose released his first song, "Temporary," at the age of nineteen. Produced by Myster Whyte, the track took months to complete as Dubose worked to develop his rap flow. To enhance his singing, he hired a vocal coach, which allowed him to finish the song and build confidence in his artistry.

In 2015, Dubose moved to New York to pursue hip-hop full time. He and rapper Quincy “QP” Acheampong co-founded Highbridge the Label and established a home studio. In February 2016, he released his first full-length project, the mixtape "Artist," which drew attention from Forbes as a rising talent. The mixtape was shaped by Dubose's experiences with a difficult breakup, influencing both its tone and his future sound.

Dubose followed with a collaborative project with fellow Highbridge rapper Don Q, titled "Highbridge the Label: The Takeover Vol. 1," released on May 18, 2016. That summer, he opened for Drake and Future on three dates of the Summer Sixteen Tour. In July 2016, A Boogie signed with Atlantic Records, and by September he was featured on the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher alongside Don Q, Russ, Kent Jones, and Nick Grant. In October, he released his first extended play, "TBA," an acronym for "The Bigger Artist." The EP peaked at number 63 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was named one of Rolling Stone’s 40 Best Rap Albums of 2016.

On June 13, 2017, Dubose was named one of XXL’s "2017 Freshman Class." He released his debut studio album, The Bigger Artist, on September 29, 2017, featuring Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, PnB Rock, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Its lead single, "Drowning" featuring Kodak Black, peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his highest-charting single at the time.

Dubose continued his rise with his second studio album, "Hoodie Szn," released in December 2018. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, solidifying A Boogie wit da Hoodie as one of the leading voices in contemporary hip-hop.

In 2022, A Boogie released "Me vs. Myself," a double-disc album exploring his internal conflicts and growth. The album received critical acclaim for its introspective lyrics and diverse production.

On May 17, 2024, he released his fifth studio album, "Better Off Alone," featuring collaborations with Young Thug, Cash Cobain, Future, Lil Durk, Fridayy, and Mariah the Scientist. The album showcases his continued evolution as an artist.

In 2025, A Boogie continues to engage with his audience through live performances and new music releases, maintaining his status as a prominent figure in the hip-hop and R&B scenes.
