Justin Blau, known professionally as 3LAU (pronounced Blau), is an American DJ, electronic dance music producer, and entrepreneur recognized for his work at the intersection of music and technology. Blau studied finance in college before pursuing a career in music. During a trip to Sweden, he discovered electronic dance music and began producing his own tracks under the stage name 3LAU. He gained early recognition in the electronic music industry with bootlegs such as "Girls Who Save the World" and "All Night Long," and won a remix competition for his version of Tiësto's "Work Hard, Play Hard."

As Blau's mashups gained popularity online, he began performing at colleges and eventually left school to focus on music full time. He shifted from mashups to original songwriting, producing dance tracks that have been featured at major festivals including Electric Zoo and Lollapalooza. Blau has collaborated with producers such as Botnek, Audien, and Bright Lights, and released music on labels including Dim Mak, Armada, Anjunabeats, and Astralwerks. His original tracks include "How You Love Me," "Is It Love," "Fire," "On My Mind," and "Hot Water," and he has produced remixes for artists such as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, and Ariana Grande, accumulating millions of streams.

Blau released his debut album "Ultraviolet" on his label BLUME, featuring singles "Touch," "On My Own," "Walk Away," and "Star Crossed," with collaborations from Carly Paige, Nevve, Emma Hewitt, Max Schneider, Said the Sky, and Neonheart. The album reached No. 1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart, as did the single "Touch." Blau is also the founder of the nonprofit label Blume and has donated profits from "Ultraviolet" to cancer research. He has raised over $200,000 for the nonprofit Pencils of Promise.

Blau commemorated the anniversary of "Ultraviolet" with an internet auction involving NFTs (non-fungible tokens), generating approximately $11 million in a three-day sale. He later launched Royal, a blockchain-based music investment platform co-founded with JD Ross, which enables fractional music ownership through NFTs. Royal has raised significant funding from investors including Paradigm, Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, and musicians such as Nas and The Chainsmokers. Blau also launched OMF (Our Music Festival), the first blockchain-powered music festival, held in San Francisco and headlined by Zedd. Through his work in electronic dance music, blockchain technology, and music entrepreneurship, Blau has contributed to new models of fan engagement and creative philanthropy in the digital music industry.
