Charles Derber

Charles Derber is professor of sociology at Boston College and the author of eight books. His newest work, "The Wilding of America" has been reviewed by "The New York Times," the "Washington Post" and many other major media. Critical acclaim comes from leading thinkers and public figures: Robert Coles, Jonathan Kozol, Noam Chomsky, Philip Slater, Ralph Nader, Ted Kennedy and many others.

Derber's books have also been selected by book clubs such as the Quality Paperback Book Club. Sales have been strong. "The Pursuit of Attention" has sold more than 50,000 copies. "The Wilding of America" has sold 25,000 and still sells briskly.

Also a prolific contributor to magazines and newspapers, Derber writes on social psychology, morality and culture, spirituality and communitarianism, and social criticism. His writings on morality, spirituality, and community, published most extensively in Tikkun magazine and in public debate with communitarian thinker Amitai Etzioni, help establish his reputation as a writer spanning themes of private life, personal and public morality, culture, spirituality and politics.

Derber is an experienced commentator on radio and television, who has been interviewed about his books on many leading talk shows and media.
