Alan Osmond

Alan Osmond is a member of the family musical group The Osmonds, and he is best known for being the oldest of the seven Osmond siblings who could sing. His musical talent was evident from an early age, and along with three of his younger brothers, they began singing as a barbershop quartet and found their first professional gigs at Disneyland. Their talent caught the attention of Jay Emerson Williams, the father of Andy Williams, landing them appearances on NBC's "The Andy Williams Show" and the ABC Western television series "The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters."

During much of the Osmonds' career, Osmond took on the role of the band's creative leader. He showcased his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano and guitar, and he also co-wrote many of their songs with Merrill, one of his brothers. Their collaborative songwriting efforts resulted in several successful studio albums, including "The Wonderful World of The Osmond Brothers" and "Crazy Horses." Besides their music, the Osmonds also ventured into film and television, with Alan appearing in films such as Goin' Coconuts and Side by Side: The True Story of the Osmond Family and television series such as "The Osmonds" and "Donny & Marie."

Osmond's contribution to the entertainment industry stretches beyond his work with The Osmonds. He and his brother Merrill organized the Stadium of Fire, one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the United States. He is also a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1987, Osmond was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a condition that his son, David Osmond, was also diagnosed with in 2005. His battle with the disease led to him receiving the Dorothy Corwin Spirit of Life Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2000, and in November 2021, Alan and his wife, Suzanne Osmond, were honored as Pillars of Utah Valley. Despite his health challenges, Osmond continues to inspire many as he currently runs the OneHeart Foundation and works as a motivational speaker.
