Tom Rose

Rose is also founder of Liberty Capital Partners, a Jerusalem based private equity group that funds early or later stage communications businesses and projects that promote economic and political freedom in Israel and throughout the Middle East.

Rose helped turn the Post into one of the world's most recognized newspaper brands. He dramatically increased the paper's readership and global presence at the same he was forced by domestic economic conditions to cut the paper's operating costs by more than half.

Rose turned the Jerusalem Post into a newspaper of firsts. It was the world's first newspaper to start its own all-news English language internet radio station; the first Israel paper to offer a Palm edition; email news alerts and SMS headlines and the first Israeli paper to offer same day home delivery in the New York area.

Rose developed the Post's web site jpost.com into one of the most visited newspaper websites in the world.

Before moving to Jerusalem, Rose worked at the Post's sister paper, the Chicago Sun-Times. From 1992 to 1997, Rose served as Special Assistant to Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith. His career as a television and radio journalist has taken Rose to more than 20 nations.

Rose is a contributing editor of the Weekly Standard Magazine and appears regularly on radio and television in the United States. Rose is also founding director of America's Voices for Israel, a US based not-for-profit organization that brings American radio and television talk show hosts broadcast their programs live from Israel for a week.

Rose's first book, Freeing the Whales, How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event, was selected by the Editors of Reader's Digest as "The Best of Non Fiction 1990."?

His second book, which he is writing now, examines key moments in the modern era during which opportunities to promote freedom in the Middle East were lost and how we can learn from them.

Rose earned his BA from Brandeis University in 1980 and his Master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in 1985. Rose spent the first Gulf War as a volunteer in the Israel Defense Forces. Tom and his wife Rachel live in Jerusalem with their three sons.
