Thomas Mullen

Thomas Mullen’s first novel, "The Last Town on Earth," was named Best Debut Novel of 2006 by USA Today and was awarded the James Fenimore Cooper Prize for excellence in historical fiction. Based on the little-known fact that some American towns posted armed guards to prevent outsiders from spreading the 1918 flu, this fast-moving story’s moral dilemma and historical lessons have made it a popular choice with Freshman Year Experience and community One Book programs. Disciplines such as English, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Biology, and Pre-Med have designed engaging programs based on the book, and Mullen’s warm and personable style helps him connect with young readers.
