Steven Page

Singer, songwriter, and musical icon Steven Page has made an indelible impression on the international music scene. A witty, endearing, and captivating stage presence, Page was the lead singer and songwriter with Barenaked Ladies, the Toronto-based band he formed in 1988 with Ed Robertson. Known for his dynamic, physically exuberant performances, his powerful tenor, quick wit, and an arsenal of songs that span the gamut between humor and pathos, Page and the band toured the world, selling out venues ranging from Madison Square Garden to the Royal Albert Hall; sold nearly 15 million albums; and won numerous Juno awards as well as two Grammy nominations and two Gemini awards for their work on Canadian television. He left the band in 2008 to pursue a solo and theatrical career.

Page's distinctive and powerful voice is among the most instantly recognizable in popular music. Inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame with his former bandmates, Page has continued his creative journey releasing original music, touring with his band and by immersing himself in an extensive array of diverse projects in music, film, theatre and television.

In 2011, while serving as a guest host on CBC’s “The Current,” Page acknowledged his struggles with depression and other forms of mental illness. Page speaks passionately on a twofold approach to promoting mental health as a society: increasing awareness and decreasing stigma. An intelligent, honest and witty speaker, Page also performs during his presentation, treating the audience to songs he has written throughout his career that speak to the topic.
