Sheila E., born Sheila Cecelia Escovedo, is a renowned musician celebrated for her prowess as a drummer, percussionist, and violinist. Born into a musical family, she is the daughter of the esteemed percussionist Pete Escovedo, a heritage that deeply influenced her musical journey.

Escovedo burst into the music scene with her debut alongside jazz pianist George Duke, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. Her talent quickly caught the attention of industry giants, leading to collaborations with iconic artists such as Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, Herbie Hancock, and Diana Ross, all while she was still in her early twenties. With a heritage blending Mexican and African American roots, Sheila brought a unique cultural perspective to her music.

Her breakthrough came when she caught the eye of the legendary Prince, who took her under his wing. Escovedo's collaboration with Prince resulted in chart-topping hits like "The Glamorous Life," "The Belle Of St. Mark," and "A Love Bizarre," solidifying her status as a solo artist of exceptional talent. She garnered nominations for prestigious awards like the American Music Awards and Grammys for her work.

During her time with Prince, she not only served as his drummer and musical director but also contributed as a writer and musician on numerous records.
