Scott Thompson

Thompson was born in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Brampton, Ontario. He is the second oldest of four brothers.

He attended Brampton Centennial Secondary School and was a student there at the time of the 1975 shooting massacre. Heenrolled in York University but in his third year was asked to leave for being 'disruptive'. He joined the comedy troupe TheLove Cats and while performing with them met Mark McKinney. In 1984 he became a member of The Kids in the Hall. That troupe'sseries aired starting 1989 on the CBC in Canada and on HBO in the United States, but moved to CBS for the fourth and fifthseasons.

Openly gay, he became best-known on the show for his monologues as the effeminate, Truman Capote-esque Buddy Cole, as well ashis appearances as Queen Elizabeth II. He also acted regularly on The Larry Sanders Show and made numerous guest appearanceson other television series including Politically Incorrect, The Late Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Train 48. Anacquaintance of late-Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain (a big Kids In The Hall fan), Thompson received a childhood photo of himfrom Cobain's management after Cobain's suicide. Scott Thompson was also the host of a reality television program in Canadacalled "My Fabulous Gay Wedding". Thompson defended Mordecai Richler's novel Cocksure in Canada Reads 2006.

One of Thompson's most recent methods of keeping in touch with his fans is by maintaining a blog called "Ewe," in characteras Buddy Cole.
