Peggy Northrop Biography
Peggy Northrop is the Editor-in-Chief for Reader’s Digest magazine. She has worked in publishing for more than 20 years. Since moving to New York City 14 years ago, she has held senior editorial positions at some of the most successful women’s magazines in the country: More, Vogue, Glamour, Redbook (Executive Editor) and Real Simple (Deputy Editor).
In California, where she lived after college, Northrop helped launch Health magazine; worked as a reporter and editor at the weekly Sunday magazine of the San Francisco Examiner, and edited The Berkeley Monthly. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the American Society of Magazine Editor’s Ellie award for Personal Service. She has been a featured speaker at the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Leadership Training Conference, and has moderated the “Healthy Women” symposium for the U.S. Department of Public Health. In 2003, she was named one of min magazine’s “21 Most Intriguing People”.
Northrop has a degree in anthropology from University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and daughter.
