Mykhailo Dobkin Biography
Mykhailo Dobkin was born in Kharkiv and graduated from National Internal Affairs University (law major) and Kharkiv National Economic University (international economics major). He started his career as entrepreneur in 1993, having led a number of business ventures, including Progress 90, Investtorgcentr, East Oil Group. In 1998 - 2002 Mr. Dobkin was a member of the Kharkiv City Council. Starting 2002 Mykhailo Dobkin became a Member of Parliament of Ukraine. Joined United Ukraine Party and Social Democratic Party (United), as well as a number of parliament groups including Democratic Initiatives and Centr. He left the parliament as member of the Party of Regions. Worked in the Parliamentary committee on budget issues. Since 2006 till March 2010 Mykhailo Dobkin served as the Mayor of Kharkiv. In March 2010 Mr. Dobkin was appointed by the President of Ukraine as the Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration.
