Michael Raynor

Michael Raynor has devoted his professional life to defeating the forces of randomness through the practical application of rigorous theory. Recognized as one of the most articulate and interesting thought leaders in innovation by the Financial Times, Raynor brings a uniquely data-driven approach to the development and implementation of cutting-edge concepts. His book, “The Three Rules,” named the best business book of 2013 by Toronto Globe & Mail, is built on the statistical analysis of more than 25,000 companies over more than forty years. The result is a powerful compass that any company can use to chart its own path to exceptional performance.

Additionally, Raynor is the author or coauthor of three best-selling and critically-acclaimed books, including "The Innovator’s Solution," which he wrote with Harvard Business School professor and father of disruptive innovation theory Clayton Christensen. Raynor also contributes extensively to various publications, including Harvard Business Review, Strategic Management Journal, Strategy + Leadership, and is a regular columnist for The Conference Board Review.

A director at Deloitte Services LP and the Innovation Theme Leader for the firm’s Eminence function, Raynor is also an advisor to senior executives in many of the world’s leading corporations across a wide range of industries, focusing on questions of strategy and innovation. He is a former teacher in the MBA and Executive Education programs at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada and at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Raynor holds a doctorate from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in business administration from the Ivey School of Business, and an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Harvard University. He lives in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
