Matt Knudsen Biography
I finished high school in Southern California, and after one lack luster semester of college, I started shipping out as a merchant marine. In my 5 years at sea, I traveled to ports in Europe, Africa, Central America and the Far East.
After my last voyage, I moved to Los Angeles and began performing stand-up comedy. I’m a “regular” at many of the comedy clubs in town and have performed in shows with Ray Romano, Drew Carey and Dane Cook, just to name a few. I’ve been in television and film, including a recurring role in HBO’s Golden Globe nominated series “Big Love,” ABC’s Emmy winning “Boston Legal” and my personal favorite, Jesus the Therapist on “Malcolm in the Middle.”
Currently, I play arch villain Sonny Appleday in Cartoon Networks first live action/ animated series,“Re-Animated.” In addition, I continue to stay active in local theater and perform sketch comedy at The Acme Comedy Theatre and long form improv with “The Waterbrains,” at the Empty Stage. In my life, I’ve been very blessed and lucky and not a day goes by when I’m not aware of it.
