Kathy Roth-Douquet

Kathy Roth-Douquet is a writer, attorney, political insider, wife, mother, and member of the Marine Corps family. She is a progressive Democrat who speaks about patriotism and about the imperative of national service in our lives. She is a veteran of every presidential campaign of the last 20 years and served in the Clinton White House and Department of Defense. Her husband is a Marine Corps pilot who has served multiple combat tours, and she has been deeply involved in Marine Corps life. She also writes and speaks about creating a balanced life, finding and giving priority to family and home life, public good, and work life.

Roth-Douquet’s work has taken her around the world in the company of world leaders. She has traveled and lived throughout most of America, as well as Asia, Central and South America, and Europe. She has worked for billionaires and made her home on a military base. She has graduated from elite schools, and held volunteer positions serving others, and has been a full-time mother. She is able to bring first hand experience and knowledge to a range of issues of pressing interest in the world today. She is the co-author of AWOL: The Unexcused Absence of America’s Upper Classes From Military Service – And How It Hurts Our Country with Frank Schaeffer. Roth-Douquet and Schaeffer teamed up again in their 2008 book, How Free People Move Mountains: A Male Christian Conservative and A Female Jewish Liberal on a Quest For Common Purpose and Meaning (Harper). Her work has also appeared in USA Today, the Marine Times, and the Army Times, and the Center for American Progress. She has appeared on Fox and Friends, Today Show, and Diane Rehm.

Roth-Douquet graduated from Bryn Mawr College, holds an M.P.A in public and international affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton, and a law degree Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif. She was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service and the Department of Defense Award for Outstanding Achievement.
