Judy Holmes

Holmes served as the U.S. Team physical therapist for the 2000, 2002 and 2004 U.S. Figure Skating World Teams. She also volunteered her time for 2003 Trophée Lalique, 2002 Skate Canada and the 2001 World Junior Championships.

Dr. Scott Nadler received the inaugural Excellence in Sports Science and Medicine award in early 2004 for his dedication to U.S. figure skaters. In December of 2004, Dr. Nadler lost his battle with cancer. In his honor the award was renamed the Dr. Scott Nadler Memorial Award for Excellence in Sports Science and Medicine.

Holmes received the award at the Team 2010 seminar on Jan. 11 at the U.S. Championships in Portland, Ore. She served a dual role at the event, speaking to more than 70 novice skaters in attendance on injury prevention and international travel after receiving her award.

She received the award in recognition of her countless volunteer hours, her invaluable assistance at events and training camps, and her thorough care of innumerable athletes. She is a true champion to the athletes, coaches and parents of U.S. Figure Skating.

U.S. Figure Skating is currently accepting nominations for the third annual Dr. Scott Nadler Excellence in Sports Science and Medicine Award. Any current U.S. Figure Skating Sports Science and Medicine Committee member, Sports Medicine Society member or current U.S. Figure Skating program faculty member is eligible. The award is based on demonstrated excellence in the area of sports science and medicine, as well as significant contributions in the areas of volunteerism, research, publication and education. The chair of the sports science and medicine committee, as well as four appointed professionals, review applicants and determine the winner.
