Juan Reyes

Juan Reyes is the Chief Technology Office for BluFocus Inc., the Industry’s first Advanced Testing and advisory service specialist for Blu-ray. The company offers products and services to content owners, player manufacturers, content developers and tool developers to ensure a seamless, issue-free viewer experience that makes full use of Blu-ray Disc's expanded capabilities such as with BD-J, BD-Live, 3D and more.

Juan Reyes has been a technical professional in the Home Entertainment Industry for close to a decade. Starting in the industry as a DVD Authoring Engineer, Juan established a UMD Production group producing titles for several major studios. Shortly after, he became involved in Blu-ray and headed a team of over 12 BD-J Engineers and Authors working through many of industry’s firsts such as the first Blu-ray title with AVC Video, first Picture-in-Picture title, first dual-layer title, etc. Juan also interfaces with Creative Developers, Content Owners, Authors throughout all stages of Blu-ray development to help in the understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the format in order to assist in the progression of the development of advanced features.

In his current role as CTO at BluFocus, Juan has established the company as an official BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association) Testing Center for BD-ROM Movie players, BD-ROM PC Application Software, and BD-ROM Audiovisual Content. Additionally he has also established the company as an official 3D BDA Testing Center in the same categories. Juan is also responsible for many of the company’s high profile projects such as managing the Blu-ray production process for The Dark Knight. He is an active member in many of the technical groups in the BDA and an active member in the 3D@Home Consortium, DEG, International 3D Society, MESA, IDMA, and the MPEG Industry Forum.
